8) International Media: Asian Representation in Media

After the success of Crazy Rich Asians, Hollywood has been more inclined to produce films that better represent people of Asian decent. Not only has a sequel to Crazy Rich Asians already greenlit, but not a full week after the Thai cave crisis, when 13 young children and their  instructor were trapped in an underwater cave, the rights were optioned for an inspirational film type film.

For years, Asians, even more so than African Americans, have been getting short shrift in American media.  We all remember the blatantly racist depiction of the Asian neighbor in Breakfast at Tiffany's. While Hollywood often preaches about equality, they don't tend to do much about it until financial proof makes it necessary.

Crazy Rich Asians took 30 million dollars to make, but made almost 200 million dollars in the United States alone.  And making 64 million from foreign box office
